A compelling collection from legendary jazz pianist Ahmad Jamal, Intervals brings together selections from his late-1960s and 1970s recordings for Cadet, highlighting the elegant touch, rhythmic sophistication, and extraordinary use of space that made Jamal one of the most influential pianists in modern jazz.

The eight-track program includes “You’re Welcome, Stop On By,” “Jordi,” “So In Love,” “Reggae,” “Batrider,” “Excerpt from My One and Only Love,” “The Tube,” and “Bones.” The selections show Jamal moving comfortably between standards, contemporary material, and his own compositions while retaining his unmistakably refined approach to the piano.

This copy is particularly interesting as a promotional/demonstration pressing, with “NOT FOR SALE – DEMONSTRATION” stamped on the back cover. The compilation was produced by Michael Stewart, with the original sessions produced by Paul Gayten, Richard Evans, Ahmad Jamal, and Bones Howe.
