Billy Maxted and His Manhattan Jazz Band - The Art of Jazz

A lively traditional jazz session from pianist, arranger and bandleader Billy Maxted, The Art of Jazz showcases his Manhattan Jazz Band in a spirited program inspired by the classic big-band and small-group sounds of the 1930s and 1940s. Maxted was an accomplished arranger whose career included work with Benny Goodman, Ray Eberle and Red Nichols, and his own recordings combine polished arrangements with the spontaneity of a working jazz ensemble.
