Each singer brings a distinctly different approach: Vaughan’s extraordinary range and sophisticated phrasing, Washington’s commanding blend of jazz and blues, and Williams’ rich baritone and effortless swing.

The collection opens with Sarah Vaughan performing “Serenata,” “Fly Me to the Moon,” “Only,” and “I Can’t Give You Anything but Love.” Dinah Washington is represented by “Where Are You?,” “The Show Must Go On,” “Stranger on Earth,” and “Take Your Shoes Off Baby,” while longtime Count Basie vocalist Joe Williams contributes “Ain’t No Use,” “I Was Telling Her About You,” “By the River St. Marie,” and “Just a Dream (On My Mind).”
