Original 1958 first pressing of Jerry Lee Lewis’s debut LP on Sun Records, catalog number LP-1230. This early edition comes from the first run and includes a remarkably low serial number, confirming its authenticity as one of the earliest examples of the release. The album captures Lewis at his rawest and most electrifying, right as “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On” and “Great Balls of Fire” were dominating jukeboxes across America.
Produced by Sam Phillips, the legendary founder of Sun Records, the album highlights Lewis’s explosive piano style and genre-bending mix of rockabilly, blues, and country. While “High School Confidential” and “Ubangi Stomp” show his blistering energy, covers like “Goodnight Irene” and “Jambalaya” prove his deep musical roots.
The cover features classic mid-century design and photos of a young Jerry Lee, both in performance and in studio with Phillips. While there is moderate edge wear and some foxing on the back, the front sleeve art retains its vibrant red-orange impact. For fans of Sun Records, 1950s rock 'n' roll, and serious vinyl collectors, this is a foundational piece from the genre’s golden era.
