Lester Young, Chu Berry & Ben Webster – The Tenor Sax: The Commodore Years

A superb collection bringing together three giants of the tenor saxophone: Lester Young, Chu Berry, and Ben Webster. Drawn from historic Commodore sessions, this 2-LP Atlantic set captures some of the defining sounds of swing-era jazz, backed by an exceptional cast including Roy Eldridge, Buck Clayton, Jo Jones, Walter Page, and others. An excellent anthology of classic pre-bop jazz and three distinctly different tenor styles. The set was issued by Atlantic in 1973.
