MFSB - Mysteries of the World

Mysteries of the World finds MFSB (Mother Father Sister Brother) bringing the polished musicianship of Philadelphia soul into the early 1980s, blending lush orchestration with funk, disco, jazz and sophisticated R&B.

The album features “Manhattan Skyline,” “Mysteries of the World,” “Tell Me Why,” “Metamorphosis,” “Fortune Teller,” “Old San Juan,” “Thank You Miss Scott” and “In the Shadow.” The sessions feature an impressive ensemble of Philadelphia players, including Dexter Wansel, James Herb Smith, Larry Moore, Joel Bryant, Keith Benson and others.

Originally released in 1980, Mysteries of the World is a strong late-period MFSB album and an excellent piece of the Philadelphia International sound as disco gave way to the smoother soul and dance productions of the new decade.
