Sheena Easton is the American debut album from Scottish pop vocalist Sheena Easton, released in 1981 at the height of her breakout success. Issued in the UK as Take My Time, the US version was retitled simply Sheena Easton and features slight tracklist adjustments, including the worldwide smash Morning Train (Nine to Five) — a song that became her signature hit and went to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The album showcases Easton’s blend of youthful energy, clean vocal delivery, and sleek early-80s production, moving fluidly between soft ballads, radio-friendly pop, and danceable tracks with a light rock edge. Alongside Morning Train, the record includes Modern Girl (her first UK hit), Prisoner, and Voice on the Radio, all of which established her as one of the new voices of the era.
Backed by a polished studio band and produced by Christopher Neil, Sheena Easton is a time capsule of early 80s pop, striking the balance between innocence and sophistication. With its glossy sound, punchy hooks, and memorable singles, the album helped launch Easton into international stardom, eventually leading to Grammy Awards and high-profile collaborations (including work with Prince later in the decade).
